Shares of Swiggy Ltd ended at ₹276.20, up by ₹5.95, or 2.20%, on the BSE. Food delivery aggregator Swiggy Ltd saw 1.11 crore shares, equivalent to 4% of its equity, change hands through block deals on Friday (September 4). The large trade comes as part of rebalancing following a cut in Swiggy’s weight due to changes in headroom announced earlier.
Two days earlier, global index provider MSCI announced the deletion of Swiggy from its flagship MSCI Global Standard Index and Mid Cap Index, effective from September 7, 2026. Swiggy was added to the MSCI indices in August 2025. The removal follows shareholder approval of a proposal to cap the company's total foreign ownership at 49.5%, a move to qualify as an Indian-Owned and Controlled Company (IOCC).
Swiggy also approved alterations to its Articles of Association to comply with India's FEMA regulations. Swiggy’s foreign investors include Prosus, SoftBank, Tencent, and Accel, while Indian investors include SBI Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Asset Management, and HDFC Mutual Fund. Swiggy’s strategy includes tying up with Hero MotoCorp to help delivery partners buy two-wheelers and launching a 24/7 personal concierge service for travel under CREW.
